About the play:
THE STORIES:
SURE THING David Ives' one-act play Sure Thing explores the potential variations in a conversation between two people, Betty and Bill, who meet by chance. The play is structured around a ringing bell that prompts a “redo” in the conversation whenever one character responds negatively to the other. Each time the bell rings, the characters rewind the conversation and provide different responses to see if they can progress the interaction.
BABY FOOD is a contemporary comedy about an off-kilter couple desperately searching for godparents for their newborn infant. Little do they know that the friends they've chosen are less than adventurous diners and on the verge of a divorce.

FUNERAL PARLOR. A widow is accosted at her husband's funeral by a very inappropriate guest.
Reviews of the plays:

SURE THING
"Moving from Faulkner to Woody Allen, Mr. Ives shifts degrees of aggressiveness and self-defensiveness, in 10 nimble minutes offering a thesaurus of the modes and mannerisms of the pick-up." - New York Times

BABY FOOD
"Astute and eye-opening! Lindsay-Abaire, who knows a good eccentric when he sees one, has something to say about unpredictable attractions between the sexes, and he says it with his usual cleverness and compassion for everyday nutzos." —TheaterMania.com.
